A Beautiful Resilience

A great place to visit any time of year is the Parker River National Wildlife Refuge on Plum Island, Massachusetts. Over 4,000 acres including beach front, dunes, marshes and more. On a winter’s walk with a friend, I took a number of photos of a few scattered trees still standing strong out on the cold wind-swept marsh lands.

The finished painting inspired by this day in turn inspired my poem by the same name. Like the lone tree, there is beauty in each person’s strength and endurance when facing challenging times.

"A Beautiful Resilience"

Swept yet still
Unbowed by winter’s chill
Midst icy tides of fading brilliance
There stands a beautiful resilience
